The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The Key Account Manager will report to the Sr. Manager, Hardware Sales and have regular interaction with sales, marketing, customer service and other support groups. The Key Account Manager is responsible for developing and establishing relationships with distribution sales teams, and for generating end-user demand through application-specific solutions primarily in the General and Motor Vehicle industries. Direct end-user business typically requires an increased hands-on approach to meet the customer demands and overcome local competition.  The Key Account Manager will have responsibility for representing all ATG brands and driving the 1 ATG philosophy. The primary objective of this role will be to utilize the candidate’s skills and knowledge to increase in-plant market share north of 90%.
The successful candidate must be resourceful, self-confident, and flexible, with a stress-tolerant and resilient attitude. The role requires exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to easily build trust and credibility to influence and drive approval from stakeholders at various levels. The Key Account Manager must have the desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and the ability to pivot and change direction quickly to ensure the advancement of the 1 ATG philosophy.  Successful candidates will have further potential career growth opportunities in sales and marketing.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Embrace and champion the passion around 1 ATG
  • Own and develop a geographically assigned territory 
  • Work as lead resource in the Hardware 2-Step Channel
  • Build strong relationships with end-users and distribution sales partners in varying levels of responsibility
  • Conduct technical sales presentations & demonstrations at varying levels of leadership internally and externally
  • Present the key end-user decision makers with new application solutions and recommendations
  • Work jointly with Distribution Field Sales, Rep Agencies, and NAMs/KAMs and follow up in a timely manner to close sales opportunities
  • Gain intelligence on purchasing procedures and key decision-makers with each end-user
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of conversion opportunities within the company provided CRM
  • Build comprehensive action plans to achieve targeted KPIs through CRM and other reporting methods
  • Build in-depth conversion plans outlining objectives and needs for completion
  • Communicate territory progress through e-mails, customer planning documents, sales documents, and additional reporting as needed
  • Manage a daily appointment schedule and a long-term sales and conversion calendar
  • Build strong relationships with key large scale hardware dealers.
  • Track all activities and major projects and communicate updates on a weekly basis
  • Solve problems within assigned territory utilizing resources, peers, and management at an appropriate level

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • 4-year bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years sales experience in hardware channel sales
  • 1-2 years mobile sales experience preferred
  • Ability to excel in a team environment
  • Ability to travel throughout territory 75% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving history
  • Must demonstrate self-motivation and a high level of independence
  • Proficient in MS Office, CRM platform
