The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly employees. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Lead third-shift production operations including safety, staffing, workflow, quality, and productivity.
  • Serve as the primary off-shift leader with the ability to make sound operational decisions independently.
  • Monitor and improve shift performance through KPIs, downtime analysis, labor utilization, scrap trends, and production reporting.
  • Utilize SAP, Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools to analyze data, identify trends, and drive operational improvements.
  • Troubleshoot production, equipment, staffing, and quality issues while developing recovery plans to minimize downtime.
  • Lead and develop hourly associates through coaching, accountability, communication, and performance management.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices and addressing risks proactively.
  • Partner with engineering, quality, maintenance, and planning teams to resolve operational issues and improve manufacturing performance.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, setup reduction, and process improvement.
  • Manage shift communication, production reporting, maintenance work orders, and operational updates for leadership teams.
  • Promote accountability, urgency, continuous improvement, and a high-performance culture across the shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience required.
  • 3–7 years of manufacturing leadership experience preferred, ideally within machining or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to make operational decisions.
  • Experience with KPIs, production reporting, trend analysis, and performance metrics required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; Power BI experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP systems preferred.
  • Ability to lead independently on an off shift with limited direct support.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required.
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and employee coaching skills required.
