The Blueprint (Role Profile)
This is an on-site position that reports daily to the Scout SUV assembly plant in Blythewood, SC, or the Apex Tool Group plant in Lexington, SC, depending on business and production needs. The role is responsible for performing electromechanical technician duties to install, start up, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fastening equipment and systems used in customer operations. Additional responsibilities include providing on-site customer training, supporting equipment installations, and completing system upgrades as required.
Standard working hours are generally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a blend of first and second shift coverage based on Scout production schedules. Occasional overtime may be required to support customer needs and production demands.
The Build (Responsibilities)
- Work with customer engineering, assembly line builder ,and end-user plant personnel to diagnose and resolve technical problems or modifications required in the field on Apex fastening systems.
- Work with customer engineering/IT to connect Apex fastening systems to customers' networks for LMS and Data collection systems.
- Work with the Customer, Service Center, Product Specialists, Application Engineering, and product R&D to develop solutions for customer issues.
- Assist manufacturing in fastening system assembly as needed.
- Assist the Service Center in tool repairs as needed.
- Keep timely records of service visits, weekly time sheets, and expense reporting.
- Adhere to customer site Safety and 5S Standards.
- Build positive relationships with customers.
- Travel required 10%.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Associate's Degree in a technical discipline (engineering tech, Field Bus, electronics), preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial assembly experience, preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in performance and functional testing, preferred.
- Capable of reading electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with LAN/WAN networks, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of computer systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to verbally express and exchange ideas with customers and company employees.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication.
- Strong written communication skills with internal and external partners.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules.
- Resourceful, roll-up-the-sleeves attitude must have the initiative to resolve problems and seek answers independently, and enthusiastically persist until goals are achieved.
- Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and demanding situations.
- Participation in a required training program in Germany for approximately 1 to 2 months during the first year of employment
- Must possess a valid passport or the ability to obtain one and be able to travel internationally as needed for training and business purposes
