The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The Production Planner/Scheduler will be responsible for leading the planning, scheduling, and expediting of material and product within our manufacturing operation. This position will analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Capacity Requirements Planning (CRP) to determine production requirements to meet Master Production Schedule (MPS).

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Plan and schedule the production of assigned products and / or value streams.
  • Determine processing schedules and release dates for orders based on department workload, material availability or lead time, processing requirements, and machine or manpower loading.
  • Coordination with outside vendors and processes to understand lead times and ensure on time delivery is achieved.
  • Release PO for outside vendor processing.
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports as needed to prepare routine shop orders and material releases. Release work appropriately to the shop floor aligning with schedules.
  • Ensure availability of specified material to allow timely completion of customer and interplant orders. Reviews customer backorders and ensures prioritization to expedite manufacture.
  • Determine production status of orders to allow for adjustments in scheduling, such as material planning. Ensures alignment with current demands of the business.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Operations team to ensure alignment with production needs. Work with other departments to evaluate concerns such as product quality.
  • Responsible to achieve on time delivery of our products to service our customer’s needs.
  • Participate in daily shop floor walkthroughs to determine needs and items that need to be expedited.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement and cost reduction activities
  • Work with internal quality team to ensure certifications and quality specs are all maintained during production process
  • Prepare, print, and fill job packet for parts going out to vendors for outside operations
  • Participate in contract review for new business and set up for new parts in the system
  • Work daily with buyer to ensure that parts are ordered at the correct time for correct delivery for on time customer delivery
  • Update Level 2 plant metric boards for Past Due/OTD/Sales
  • Present on Past Due/OTD/Sales Metrics weekly

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Associate's degree in a related field is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred 3+ years’ experience in a production control, master scheduling, or production planning environment is required
  • Experience working on a production floor is a must
  • Proficient knowledge within SAP as it relates to planning in a production order environment
  • Ability to manage priorities for multiple value streams and processes
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization
  • APICS certification preferred
