Apex Tool Group is currently seeking a Marketing & Communications Intern to join our Cleco brand marketing team for Summer 2026. This internship will support marketing and communication efforts by assisting with content development, customer success stories, digital marketing initiatives and audit/optimization of current activities.
This role is a great opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in applying their academic experience in a real-world B2B industrial marketing environment. The intern will gain exposure to technical marketing, internal and external communication, customer development, vertical marketing and social media strategy as part of a collaborative and cross-functional marketing team.
The Marketing & Communications Intern reports to the Senior Manager, Global Marketing Communications and will work closely with product, sales, and engineering teams to help communicate the value of Cleco's industrial tool solutions.

The Build (Responsibilities)
Primary
- Provide support for Cleco’s “owned” marketing channels, including thorough audits on current workflow & recommending new approaches based on strategic insights
- Evaluate brand health through all end user (consumer) touchpoints, recommend improvements based on strategic insights
- Suggest prioritized approaches to increase exposure to end users, using data to inform recommendations on better ways to improve loyalty and nurture the bottom funnel
- Work with global colleagues to prepare business cases and build consensus for recommendations
Secondary
- Assist in drafting and developing customer success stories for marketing and sales enablement
- Support Cleco’s LinkedIn content strategy by helping create and schedule engaging posts
- Translate technical content into clear, audience-friendly messaging for promotional use
- Conduct competitive research to support campaign planning and digital positioning
- Participate in brainstorming sessions for brand messaging and campaign planning
- Contribute to internal communication initiatives and presentations
- Coordinate with the marketing team to support other administrative or content-based projects
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field
- Strong writing and editing skills with an interest in brand storytelling and digital marketing
- Ability to break down technical content into clear, user-friendly messages
- Experience presenting data-based recommendations in a professional manner
- Familiarity with LinkedIn and other digital platforms for business communication
- Familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce, Hubspot, SAP, etc.
- Proactive, team-oriented, and eager to learn in a professional environment
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other content tools is a bonus
