The Blueprint (Role Profile)

Apex Tool Group is currently looking for a Product Manager for our Cordless Fastening Tools based in Lexington, SC. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a complete portfolio of Cleco Cordless electric fastening tools used in industrial manufacturing and assembly environments. This includes managing the entire product life cycle for each product within the product line and evaluating revenue and profit margin to ensure a balanced portfolio. The Product Manager is also responsible for product requirement definitions, pricing, and product positioning based on market research, sales, and customer feedback in all regions for new and current products.

The Product Manager, Cordless reports to the Director, Marketing, Cordless. They will interact with the GPT Marketing department, MarCom, R&D, our sales team, and customers. The Product Manager is the company’s trend watcher for his/her product line and is heavily involved in and will sometimes lead the new product development process. Innovation, creativity, and quality will drive day to day work.

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Lead Voice of Customer (VOC) strategy to identify and prioritize high-impact product and portfolio opportunities
  • Own product portfolio strategy, including roadmap development, lifecycle management, SKU rationalization, and expansion into adjacent markets
  • Lead cross-functional new product development initiatives from concept through launch, ensuring alignment across Engineering, Operations, and Commercial teams
  • Partner with R&D to define product architecture, technology direction, and long-term innovation roadmap
  • Drive go-to-market strategy and global product launches in collaboration with Marketing and Sales
  • Own pricing strategy and financial performance of the product line, including revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost optimization
  • Develop competitive positioning and displacement strategies to grow market share across key segments and channels
  • Translate market, customer, and sales data into actionable insights that inform product and business decisions
  • Lead annual and long-range planning, including forecasts, portfolio investment decisions, and budget alignment
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the product line across internal teams and key customers
  • Travel up to 30% as required

 

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of product management experience with demonstrated ownership of product strategy and business performance
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and market share
  • Experience leading cross-functional and global product initiatives
  • Strong background in industrial manufacturing, controls, or assembly environments
  • Experience with transducerized DC tightening systems or related technologies preferred
  • Strong financial acumen, including pricing strategy and P&L ownership or influence
  • Proven ability to lead product lifecycle from concept through launch and optimization
  • Experience influencing product architecture and technical direction in partnership with engineering teams
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear business decisions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments and drive alignment across competing priorities
