Based in Huntersville, NC, and reporting to the Director, Global Transportation, the Transportation Analyst sits within the Procurement, Transportation team and is responsible for analyzing and optimizing transportation and logistics processes to ensure cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.

 

This role involves gathering and analyzing data, preparing reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams—including frequent communication with carriers and third-party logistics providers (3PLs)—to improve transportation strategies and operations. The position requires proactive engagement with external partners to negotiate contracts, resolve shipping issues, and ensure seamless coordination of freight movements.

The Build (Responsibilities)

 

  • Collect and analyze transportation data, including freight costs, delivery times, and carrier performance.
  • Develop and maintain transportation KPIs and dashboards to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions to reduce transportation costs and improve delivery times.
  • Collaborate with carriers and internal teams to optimize routes, modes, and schedules.
  • Evaluate and implement new transportation technologies and tools.
  • Monitor carrier performance to ensure compliance with contractual agreements and company standards.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts with transportation providers to secure cost-effective and reliable services.
  • Foster strong relationships with vendors and carriers to support long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential transportation vendors and assess their capabilities.
  • Develop and issue RFQs/RFPs for transportation services and evaluate vendor proposals.
  • Analyze and compare carrier bids to ensure the best value and service quality.
  • Assist in the development and execution of transportation procurement strategies to align with company goals.
  • Maintain records of all procurement activities and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies.
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate disruptions.
  • Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and operations teams to align transportation activities with broader supply chain goals.
  • Support new business initiatives by providing transportation analysis and recommendations.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • SAP, Smartsheet and Tableau experience is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials (Hazmat/DG) handling and relevant regulatory compliance is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
