The Blueprint (Role Profile)
We are looking for Process Engineering Techs to join our manufacturing plant in Dayton, OH. The incumbent will support our machining department, providing daily operational support as well as assisting with the design of new process to better service customers. He or she will ensure machining capability to meet product specifications and quality standards while making recommendations for improvements to processes, methods and controls.
The incumbent will report the Engineering Manager, but may take daily direction from the Value Stream Manager that is assigned to the designated area or department. He or she will also interact with Operators, Machinists, Supervisors and other management team members.

The Build (Responsibilities)
- Provide equipment runoff support for new product development opportunities or new process design, ensuring effective handoff of production from Engineering to Operations
- Consult with Managers, Supervisors, Technicians and Operators to identify and set priorities ensuring that the highest priority and most critical issues are addressed immediately
- Facilitates the reduction of manufacturing costs and improving product quality by investigating and troubleshooting technical problems and recommending solutions
- Improve product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing standards and confirming processes and methods
- Occasionally lead training exercises of new Machinists and Machine Operators to ensure familiarity with the equipment, focusing on process design and troubleshooting efforts
- Evaluates processes by collecting and analyzing data in order to provide recommendations for continuous improvement in the process or department, improving throughput
- Assist in evaluating potential equipment and machinery purchases to determine the capabilities of the machine and to determine if it will support the desired process
- Assist with tooling design and development as needed, and design of new tooling during new product implementation
- Other duties as required to be successful in the role, including but not limited to, running production orders as needed to meet customer requirements
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
- Associate’s degree in an Engineering related discipline; in lieu of degree, +4 years’ experience
- 4+ years’ related work experience in a production environment; experience in a precision machining environment utilizing mills, lathes and mill turns is preferred
- Ability to create and alter CNC programs through use of M&G codes
- Proficiency in CAD software (Esprit/ProE/Creo/AutoCAD/MasterCAM) is preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of tooling and fixture design
- Ability to manage multiple priorities or projects at the same time
- Ability to effectively facilitate training of new associates through on-the-job training
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and practices is a plus
