The Blueprint (Role Profile)

Reporting to the Manager, Application Engineering, Cleco, the Wireless & Software Network Engineer role is based in Auburn Hills, MI (Eastern time zone). This position within the Global Power Tools Sales group is responsible for ensuring secure and stable connectivity of industrial fastening tools used in mass production factory environments and selling and supporting the Cleco Software Solution products.  Acting as a key liaison between Cleco and customer IT, this role should be capable of evaluating wireless data communications, with regards to cordless tooling, and implementation of solutions to maximize performance reliability and speed. Also, working with the factory IT to implement the Cleco Software Solutions products.  This includes initial installation and troubleshooting of products on the plant floor/network.  The Wireless & Software Network Engineer will also prepare and deliver training for application engineers and field sales as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).

The Build (Responsibilities)

  • Oversee team members’ troubleshooting of wireless connectivity issues at end user location, quickly identifying the source of the issue. 
  • Conduct troubleshooting of wireless connectivity issues at end user location, quickly identifying the source of the issue.
  • Conduct evaluation of wireless environments, providing recommendations to improve connectivity.
  • Be thoroughly knowledgeable of the Cleco Software Solution products.
  • Present and sell the Cleco Software Solutions products to end users and distribution network.
  • Create proposals to end users/distribution network for the Software Solutions products.
  • Support installation and configuration of Cleco Software Solutions products at end user location.
  • Troubleshoot end user issues with Cleco software products.
  • Identify end-user trends as it relates to connectivity in fastening tools.
  • Collaborate closely with the R&D team to ensure Cleco’s wireless solutions meet the needs of our partners.
  • Lead customer certification / validation of wireless connectivity / protocols.
  • Gather competitive knowledge to ensure ATG’s offering is best in class and identify product enhancements that would improve overall connectivity.
  • Understand common product applications and end users.
  • Understand ongoing customer perceptions of the product line, competition, and brand.

The Toolbox (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of five-years’ experience working with wireless communication and database systems.
  • Experience with wireless survey tools and network protocol analyzers (CWNA training a plus).
  • Experience with the following technologies/protocols: 802.1X, 802.11, unlicensed Radio Frequency planning (2.4 & 5GHz), TCP/UDP/IPStrong analytical skills – proficient use of data to support decision making and solve problems.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL or similar is required.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems is a plus.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with solid communication skills and a sense of ownership and motivation.
  • Possess ability to work through issues and bring projects to completion; perform complex research, analysis, and troubleshooting; and resolve critical problems over sustained time durations in a logical manner.
  • Ability to travel appoximately 50% throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
